Implant Crowns
Replace a missing tooth with an implant.
Service Description
A dental implant is widely considered the "gold standard" for replacing a missing tooth. Unlike a bridge, which relies on neighboring teeth for support, an implant is a standalone solution that mimics the entire structure of a natural tooth—from the root all the way to the crown. What Exactly Is a Dental Implant? Think of an implant in three parts: The Post: A small, sturdy titanium screw that acts as a new "root" for your tooth. The Abutment: A small connector piece that sits on top of the post. The Crown: The custom-made porcelain tooth that people see when you smile. Why Choose an Implant? Implants offer several unique benefits: Bone Health: When you lose a tooth, the jawbone in that area can start to shrink. An implant stimulates the bone, keeping it strong and healthy. Independence: We don't have to shape or "touch" the healthy teeth next to the gap. Stability: Because it is anchored in the bone, it feels and functions exactly like a real tooth. You can eat crunchy and chewy foods with confidence. Step 1: The Referral and Placement The process begins with a referral to an Oral Surgeon or Periodontist. This specialist is an expert in the "surgical" side of the procedure. They will carefully place the titanium post into your jawbone. This is usually a quick, comfortable procedure performed under local freezing or sedation. Step 2: Osseointegration (The Healing Phase) This is the most important part! Over the next few months, a process called osseointegration occurs. This is where your natural jawbone actually grows around and bonds to the titanium post. It creates a rock-solid foundation that is just as strong as a natural root. Step 3: Specialist Verification Once the healing period is over, you will return to the specialist. They will perform a few simple tests to verify that the implant is fully integrated and ready to hold a tooth. Once they give the "all-clear," you come back to our office. Step 4: The Final Crown Now it is our turn! Our dentists will take a high-definition impression of the implant and the surrounding teeth. We send this to our professional dental lab, where a custom white crown is crafted to match the shade, shape, and "bite" of your smile. At your final visit, we securely attach the crown to the implant.
