Mouth Guards
Protect your teeth when playing sports with a custom guard.
Service Description
Protecting your smile during sports is just as important as wearing a helmet or knee pads. Whether you are playing a high-contact sport like hockey or a non-contact sport like gymnastics, a custom-made mouth guard is the best way to prevent dental emergencies and keep your teeth safe. Why You Need a Sports Mouth Guard While you can buy "boil-and-bite" mouth guards at most sporting goods stores, they often feel bulky and can make it difficult to breathe or speak. A custom guard from your dentist offers superior protection for several reasons: Impact Absorption: It acts as a shock absorber, spreading the force of a blow across all your teeth rather than just one. This prevents chips, fractures, and even tooth loss. Soft Tissue Protection: The guard creates a smooth barrier between your teeth and your lips or cheeks, preventing painful cuts and "fish-hook" injuries during a collision. A Better Fit: Because it is molded specifically to your teeth, it stays in place without you having to clench your jaw. This means you can breathe easily and communicate with your teammates on the field or ice. How We Make Your Custom Guard In our office, we use a high-quality process called laminate suck-down technology to create a guard that is both comfortable and incredibly durable. 1. The High-Definition Impression First, the dentist takes a precise impression (a mold) of your upper teeth. This captures every detail of your smile. We then use this mold to create a stone model of your mouth. 2. The Laminate Process Unlike thin, single-layer guards, our guards are made from a thick, professional-grade laminate material. We place your stone model into a specialized vacuum-pressure machine. The machine heats the laminate material until it is soft and then "sucks" it down tightly over the model. This ensures the guard fits every curve of your teeth perfectly. 3. Customization and Finishing Once the guard has cooled and hardened, the dentist carefully trims it to follow your gum line. We ensure the edges are smooth and that the guard doesn't interfere with your bite. 4. Your Choice of Colors We know that looking good is part of feeling confident in your gear! We offer two vibrant color options for your custom sports guard: Power Blue Deep Purple Long-Term Care Your custom mouth guard is built to last. After each use, simply rinse it with cool water and occasionally clean it with mild soap. Always keep it in its protective case when you aren't wearing it.
