Partial Dentures

Replace missing teeth with a metal or flexible partial denture.

Service Description

When you are missing a few teeth but still have several healthy natural teeth remaining, a partial denture is an excellent way to fill the gaps. It’s a removable appliance that clips onto your existing teeth, preventing them from shifting out of place while restoring your ability to chew and smile with confidence. Why You Might Need a Partial Denture Leaving gaps in your smile can cause more than just cosmetic concerns. A partial denture helps by: Preventing Tilting: Teeth like to have neighbors. When one is missing, the others may lean or "drift" into the empty space, causing bite problems. Improving Chewing: Distributing the force of chewing across more surfaces protects your remaining natural teeth from wearing down too quickly. Restoring Speech: Missing certain teeth can make it difficult to pronounce specific sounds clearly. Support: It provides structure to your lips and cheeks, maintaining your natural facial shape. Two Popular Choices: Cast Metal vs. Valplast In our office, we offer different types of partial dentures depending on your needs. The two most common options are Cast Metal and Valplast. 1. Cast Metal Partial Dentures (The Classic Choice) This is the traditional "gold standard" for partials. It features a high-quality, medical-grade metal frame that is custom-fit to your mouth. How it stays in: It uses small metal "clasps" that hook onto your natural teeth for stability. The Benefits: It is incredibly strong, durable, and thin, which many patients find feels less "bulky" in the mouth. It is also very easy for the dentist to adjust or add teeth to if you lose another tooth in the future. The Look: While the teeth look natural, the small metal clasps might be slightly visible when you laugh or smile widely. 2. Valplast Partial Dentures (The Flexible Choice) Valplast is a modern alternative made from a unique, flexible nylon material. How it stays in: Instead of metal hooks, it uses flexible, gum-colored clasps that blend in with your natural tissue. The Benefits: Because the material is slightly flexible, it can be very comfortable to wear. It is also virtually unbreakable. The Look: Valplast is often called the "invisible" partial. Because there is no metal, the pink material blends in with your gums, making it a favorite for people concerned about aesthetics.
